Many times the interior lights are wired into the running light circuit, have you tried the interior lights once the vehicle headlights are on?
The lights also might be wired into the 12 Volt accessory circuit from the trailer connector. Use a circuit tester such as part # 40376 to test the 12 Volt pin on the trailer connector to ensure its putting out power.

You would need to connect the 12 volt accessory circuit wire from your 7-way connection to the positive post of your trailer's battery. This will put a maintenance charge on the battery when you are towing. Then to power the light you would also need to run the positive wire of the light to the positive post of the battery.

Horse trailer wiring is funny as there's two different ways the standard 6-ways can be wired with the only real difference being the brake output circuit and the 12 volt accessory circuit being swapped. What would have solved your problem initially is if you had swapped those two circuits on your Dodge Ram 6-way initially before messing with the other circuits.

You could use the Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112 to monitor your horses, but the camera for the system automatically turns off after 15 minutes to help save the battery. Since you want the powered accessories on the trailer to run off of both 110 AC power and 12 volt DC power you will need what is called a transfer switch and probably some additional wiring including the batteries.
A transfer switch will automatically switch to running off AC power when the trailer is plugged in and then revert back to DC power. The trouble is that the accessories using the power have to be rated for AC and DC power.

If you have a factory seven way trailer connector on the tow vehicle then it will be wired as either traditional or standard which means the center pin is for reverse and the one o'clock is for battery charge.
